We are quite appalled with the earthquake catastrophe in Japan. Our prayers are with the victims and their families, and the rescue team on site. From the shocking pictures that had so severly affected us, the effects of the catastrophe come out a bit clearer with each passing day.
As we try to find answers to the inevitable questions of uncertainties regarding Japanese food products, we would like to enlighten you with the following information:
Please be informed that we work with only the reliable importers of Japanese products, who regularly check for the quality of products being imported. Based on the information that our importers have received from the corresponding authorities for importation and quality control, the product control at the borders – outgoing in Japan and incoming in Germany – have been raised to a higher level to ensure that the products being imported and made available in the German market are not affected by radioactivity. Products imported would always be accompanied by a declaration that has been approved by the japanese authorities, and these will be checked by an EU special controller for Japanese food import. In case a Japanese product has been produced in one of the 12 prefectures near Fukushima, this information will be specially indicated in the import declaration. The product will be checked and controlled based on EU regulations even before it would be loaded to the ship, and likewise will undergo a sampling test during its arrival in the EU borders.
You may, therefore, be assured of the quality of the products that we offer in our shop.
By the way, our best-seller Japanese-quality Yumenishiki rice is produced in Italy, and all other products we have in the shop are properly labeled with country of origin. Meanwhile, we also try to offer products made from other countries , i.e., Japanese products manufactured by Japanese companies in their factories overseas, as part of our product line-up. |
